SYRIA’S TRANSITION:

Transition Meetings

October 20:

• Finance Minister Mohammed Barnieh met with Governor to Suwayda Mustafa Bakkour on October 20 to discuss the financial challenges faced by Suwayda, along with their needs vis-a-vis the national budget and allocations for the region.

  

• Later that day, Governor to Suwayda Bakkour also met with Energy Minister Mohammed al-Bashir to discuss the energy needs of Suwayda, as well as the state of the region’s water and sanitation sectors.

• The Foreign Ministry’s Department of International Cooperation hosted a meeting with officials from UN OCHA on October 20 to discuss coordination of ongoing work alongside the Ministries of Health, Energy, Agriculture, Emergency and Disaster Response, and the National Demining Center.

• The President of the Constitutional Court, Issam al-Khalif, met with the People’s Assembly committee on Constitutional and Legislative Affairs on October 20, to discuss the need to coordinate respective activities through established legal frameworks.
