Weekly Data Update (May 6-13, 2025)
Overall violence drops significantly, with vigilante justice behind 73% of deaths.
After two weeks of instability - centered around violence in Druze-majority areas - violence in Syria declined significantly this past week, returning to a level hovering around the average seen since mid-March 2025. All in all, 56 violent deaths were confirmed across Syria over the past 7 days — 8 (14%) of which were caused by unexploded ordinance. The governorates of Aleppo (12 deaths), Raqqa (9 deaths), Hama and Latakia (each, 8 deaths) and Homs and Rif Dimashq (each, 7 deaths) were the predominant source of deadly violence. Raqqa’s violence was almost entirely attributable to inter-tribal clashes.
