Weekly Data Update (April 8-15, 2025)
Overall violence remains low, as Aleppo calms, the pro-Assad insurgency shrinks & Israeli action plummets. But ISIS recovers & crime and revenge violence increases.
While the overall level of violence across Syria this week (69 deaths) increased slightly compared to last week (58 deaths) — it remains considerably below the average levels seen since Assad’s fall in December 2024. Moreover, the 15 deaths caused by unexploded ordinance (UXO) comprised 22% of the overall deaths across Syria this past week, further underlining the wider de-escalation in kinetic military-type violence seen across the country in recent weeks.
