Syria Data Update: July 1, 2026
Violence declines, but vigilantism persists; Israeli operations hint at potential expansion; Suwayda continues to destabilize; and ISIS tempo remains at record low.
The overall level of violence in Syria declined over the past 2 weeks, with a total of 27 deaths confirmed over 14 days (June 16-30), 4 (15%) of which were caused by unexploded ordnance (UXO). That put Syria back onto the average level of overall violence (~13 deaths per week) seen between February and the end of May 2026 — before violence increased slightly through the first half of June, with an average of 19 deaths per week.
