The overall level of violence in Syria declined last week, reaching the second lowest level in 10 weeks — with 12 violent deaths recorded, 2 (17%) of which were caused by unexploded ordnance (UXO). While this still places Syria on a less stable level than seen through March-May, it is considerably below the average of 17 violent deaths per week recorded through June and July.
With regards to this past week’s violence, the 10 non-UXO deaths were attributed to two causes — with one responsible for 70% of all deaths nationwide:
