Iran's proxies in Syria-Iraq are on the attack, again
Rocket attacks on Conoco base trigger U.S. retaliatory strikes
After five months of relative quiet, Iran’s proxies in Iraq and Syria appear to be re-activating. Late tonight, July 26, several rockets were launched at U.S. troops deployed at the Mission Support Site Conoco. Gathering from local reports, at least two rockets landed inside the base, but caused no injuries. Within an hour, U.S. forces hit back, targeting Iranian proxy militia positions in at least four locations to the west: Khasham, Marrat, al-Husseiniyah and Salahiyah. And an hour after that, Iran’s proxies responded with another salvo of rockets and/or mortars.
